At Alys Beach, environmental stewardship is a core value, a principle upon which our town was founded. Our commitment to sustainable design is reflected throughout town in our architecture, planning, and landscape as stewards of the beautiful natural environment here along this pristine Northwest Florida coast. As we look forward to Earth Day on April 22, 2021 here at the Alys Shoppe, we’re rounding up some of our earth-friendly products to share in celebration. These products have been carefully curated by the Alys Shoppe’s Director of Retail, Tiffany Fowler, as an extension of the environmental stewardship of Alys Beach.

Championing the resurgence of the 90’s chic French hair claw, the Shoppe is carrying a beautiful line of these hair clips, as well as light-weight hoop earrings of varying sizes and shapes, from sustainable fashion accessories company Fenna&Fei. Made from ethically sourced cellulose acetate that is biodegradable and non-petroleum-based, these accessories come in exquisite colors, patterns and finishes created through a process using cotton pulp and crushed shells for texture and pearlescence.

Streamlining our kitchen products is also front-of-mind as we celebrate Mother Earth. The Swedish Dishcloth is a biodegradable, compostable, natural plant material alternative to sponges and paper towels. One dishcloth replaces 15 rolls of paper towels in a durable, easy to clean, bacteria-resistant cloth. Goldilocks Wraps are reusable beeswax food wraps made by hand in small batches to reduce the number of disposable plastics we use. Founded by art historian (hence the beautiful designs) and ocean lover, Amy Hall, Goldilocks Wraps was born out of the realization of the impact of plastics on our oceans, globally, during her volunteer work with a shark conservation program in the South Pacific. Not only do Goldilocks Wraps keep your food fresh longer than plastic wraps and reduce the impact of disposable plastics, they look mighty cute doing it!

Earth-friendly options for our toiletry and beauty products round out this collection of sustainable goods. BKIND nail polishes offer an all-natural, vegan, eco-friendly formula without compromising on luxurious color and finish. Proceeds from the sales of BKIND products support animal welfare organizations (2021 proceeds will go to SOS Miss Dolittle wildlife shelter in Quebec), and the company is certified as 100% vegan and cruelty free by the Leaping Bunny Program.

Rinse Bath & Body products are made with 93-100% naturally derived, vegan ingredients and contain no sulfates, formaldehyde, metals, phthalates, or parabens. Various Rinse items are available in the Alys Shoppe throughout the year, including lip balms, solid lotions or “skin sticks,” hand sanitizing and aromatherapy sprays, and their wonderful, exfoliating loofah soaps.

Kitsch Shampoo and Conditioner Bars deliver healthy, happy hair with zero-waste packaging, cruelty-free and 100% vegan formulas without phthalates, parabens, sulfates, fragrances, or dyes. Each bar offers 100 washes or two bottles of shampoo/conditioner. The Kitsch Eco-Friendly Ultimate Cleansing Kit offers reusable beauty staples made from organic cotton and bamboo including a stack of mini face rounds, an exfoliator sponge, a cotton face cloth, and a mesh zip wash bag.
